Donor area correction

Donor area repair after FUE

FUE removes whole follicles from the back and sides of the head. When too many are taken, the donor area can look thin, patchy or see-through, sometimes with small white dot scars. HASCI assesses what remains and plans a correction that protects the donor hair you still have.

What an over-harvested donor area looks like

  • See-through or thin patches at the back and sides, most visible with short hair
  • A moth-eaten look, with uneven density between areas
  • Small white dot scars where follicles were removed
  • Less donor hair left for any future procedure

Why the donor area matters

The donor area is limited. With techniques that remove whole follicles, every follicle taken is gone from the back of the head for good. Once it has been over-harvested, both the look of the back of the head and the options for any future transplant are reduced.

How HST approaches donor correction

  • HST takes only part of each follicle and leaves the stem cells behind, so it is designed to preserve the donor hair that remains.*
  • HST was originally developed for burn patients and is used to grow hair in scar tissue, so areas with dot scars can be included in the plan.*
  • Density can be planned across the back and sides, so the donor area and the front are considered together.

How a donor correction is planned

  1. 01Send photos of the back and both sides of your head, with your hair short, plus the details of your earlier FUE procedure, on WhatsApp.
  2. 02A doctor assesses the remaining density, the scarring and the area originally treated.
  3. 03You receive a written plan with an itemised quote.
  4. 04The correction is done in a single sitting under local anaesthesia, and you go home the same day.

Timing

The donor area and any transplanted hair need time to settle after an earlier procedure. Transplanted hair takes 12 to 15 months to show its full result, so your doctor will advise when to plan a correction.

Questions people ask

Can an over-harvested donor area be repaired?+

Often it can be improved. It depends on how much donor hair remains and on the scarring. A doctor reviews photos of the back and sides of your head before recommending a plan.

Can FUE dot scars be covered?+

HST is used to grow hair in scar tissue, so areas with dot scars can be planned for. The doctor will explain what is realistic for your case.*

Why does HST suit a thinned donor area?+

HST takes only part of each follicle and leaves the stem cells behind, so it is designed to preserve the donor hair that remains rather than use it up.*

Do I need to visit Hyderabad for the first review?+

No. Send photos on WhatsApp first. A doctor reviews them and talks you through the options, and you travel once your plan is ready.

How long after my FUE should I wait?+

Your doctor advises on timing. The earlier result usually needs to mature, which takes 12 to 15 months.
