First: has it had time to grow?
Transplanted hair often sheds in the first weeks. New growth usually begins around month 3, with visible change by month 6 and the full result at 12 to 15 months. A thin look before then is often part of normal growth.*
Signs a transplant has gone wrong
| Sign | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Pluggy or unnatural hairline | Grafts placed in clumps, or a hairline that does not suit the face |
| Hair growing at odd angles | Grafts placed against the natural direction of the hair |
| Low or patchy density after 12–15 months | Too few grafts, or grafts that did not take |
| Thin, patchy back of the head | An over-harvested donor area |
| Visible scars | A FUT strip scar, or dot scars from FUE |

Chat on WhatsAppWhat to do
- 01Take clear photos of the front, top, crown and both sides, in daylight, with dry hair.
- 02Collect what you know about the earlier procedure: technique, date and number of grafts.
- 03Send both on WhatsApp for a doctor’s review.
- 04You receive an honest view of what can be improved, and a written plan with an itemised quote.
How corrections are approached
Correction can mean softening and reshaping a hairline, adding grafts at the natural angle, filling thin areas, or growing hair through scars. Because many repairs start with a donor area that is already thinned, HST is used: it takes only part of each follicle and leaves the stem cells behind, designed to preserve the donor hair that remains.*
Questions people ask
How do I know if my hair transplant failed?+
Judge it at 12 to 15 months, when the full result shows. Before that, shedding and thin areas are often normal. Signs that persist after that, such as low density, odd angles or a pluggy hairline, are worth a review.
Can a bad hair transplant be fixed?+
Often it can be improved. It depends on the problem and how much donor hair remains. A doctor reviews your photos before recommending a plan.
My transplant was done abroad. Can you still help?+
Yes. HASCI regularly reviews transplants done in other cities and countries. Bring any records you have.
