Why transplanted hair usually keeps growing
Grafts are taken from the back and sides of the head, where hair is usually resistant to pattern hair loss. Moved to a thinning area, it generally keeps that resistance.*
Why the hair around it may still thin
A transplant does not stop pattern hair loss in your original hair. Over the years, the hair between and behind the grafts may continue to thin. That is why your doctor may suggest therapy to support the existing hair, or plan for a second session later.

Chat on WhatsAppWhy the donor area matters for the long term
HST (Hair Stem Cell Transplant) is a patented technique developed by Dr. Coen Gho in the Netherlands. Instead of removing each follicle whole, it takes only part of it and leaves the stem cells behind, so the donor area is designed to grow back.*
That matters if you may need a second session: the donor area is not used up the way it can be with techniques that remove whole follicles.
The growth timeline
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Days 7 to 10 | Crusts fall off |
| Weeks after | Transplanted hairs may shed; this is normal |
| Month 3 | New growth usually begins |
| Month 6 | Visible change |
| Months 12 to 15 | Full result* |
Questions people ask
Will transplanted hair fall out again?+
Transplanted hair often sheds in the first weeks, then regrows from around month 3. After that it is designed to last.*
Will I need a second transplant?+
Some patients do, because their original hair continues to thin. Your doctor plans for this from the start.
Can I keep my hair after a transplant without medicines?+
It depends on how active your hair loss is. Your doctor will advise whether therapy to support the existing hair makes sense.
